Yakumonuri lacquerware, a traditional craft product designated by the governor of Shimane Prefecture

On Yakumonuri lacquerware, patterns are depicted with various colored lacquer, mother-of-pearl, and gold or silver powder on lacquered base material. Fine natural transparent lacquer is overlaid on it and then finished with a traditional polishing technique. As years go by, the transparent lacquer becomes clearer making the patterns more magnificent.

On the thin material of Japanese keyaki, cherry blossom is depicted with colored lacquer and silver powder. As it is very light, people of any age can use it easily.
