The handle shape has been designed to be easy to grip while the head is in a shape that easily scoops even corners of pots. Made of Japanese cypress which features high resistance against decay & strength, lightness and ease of use.
Miyajima Kogei Seisakusho makes wooden rice paddles and wooden cooking utensils on the island of Miyajima, Hiroshima. Founded in the mid-Meiji period, it started out making square trays and in the early Showa period began making wooden scoops.
When manufacturing items, importance is placed on ease of use and longevity. Wood from Chugoku and Kyushu is mainly used as a material. Each individual item is shaped using a router and a chamfering machine and then polished by hand.
Wood items are items full of love that become more nuanced the more they are used. We would like you to use this item for a long time.

[Item Handling Precautions]
* It will absorb water so avoid leaving in water for a long time.
*Do not use a dishwasher and do not rapidly dry. This may cause breakage or deformation.
*After use, dry properly before storing.
*Rice paddle: apply lots of water before using so rice doesn't stick to it.
*As it isn't coated, fuzz may occur depending on the area of the material. This will gradually settle down as it is used. However, if this is a concern, wet with water and polish with approx. #200 water-resistant sandpaper. Then polish with approx. #400 water-resistant sandpaper. You can then use without worrying about fuzz.
By polishing 1-2 times, you can use without worrying about fuzz. If the item becomes splintered, you can care for it in the same manner, even if the tip is squashed.
*As this is made using natural wood material, each individual item's wood texture will differ. On occasion, the wood may have a knot or the color may not be uniform.
*This is made by hand so the size and shape may differ slightly.
