A lacquered plate that shines like a pearl.
Glass & lacquer. GLASS JAPAN - born from Kuroe traditional techniques & and new ideas. New lacquerware made by artisan Yoshihiko Fujii, which fuses together the transparency of glass tableware and the rich expressiveness of lacquer, is combined with the sensitivities of designer Eri Inaba to create this new Perla tableware.
It has a pearl-like texture that brings to mind the port city of Kobe, a place with a deep connection to pearls, and a traditional lacquer color from the lacquerware town of Kuroe.
Traditional lacquer is applied on the under side of the glass so you can use a knife & fork without damaging it. Also, it is practical too as special techniques mean you can wash it in a dishwasher.
