Takamori makie is Japanese patterns and feng shui patterns designed by painters which have a slightly raised 3D appearance.
"The Great Wave off Kanagawa" from the Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji is the piece from the series that was finished last.
This is a famous masterpiece with Mt. Fuji towering in the distance behind raging waves that carry boats with helpless passengers onboard. The contrasts between movement & stillness and near & far stand out in this work. It is known to have influenced a number of artists - it was praised by Van Gogh and gave Debussy the idea for a symphony (La Mer).
