Toyooka City in Hyogo Prefecture is Japan's bag production capital, which is where this basket-style sewing box is made using cellophane rope in a style that shows off traditional willow basket weaving craft.
This basket boasts a vivid five-color pattern and construction using a unique Japanese design that winds cellophane around a paper core, this basket's cellophane rope is lightweight and durable while also keeping the inner paper core protected from water and oil. Today, the only craftsman who performs this traditional weaving technique is one Mr. Shoji Sato. Made in Japan - Handmade Sewing Box, Stork
Made in Toyooka City, this basket-style sewing bag features woven cellophane rope construction and the appearance of a stork in its natural habitat.
With its main white, red, and black colors accented with gold and silver, the construction incorporates diagonal weaving not normally seen in traditional patterns to create the elegant, luxurious appearance of a flying stork.
The lid portion's outer fabric is velveteen-style tailored pile with a chinchilla finish. The fabric has a soft, plush feel while the chinchilla finish adds some extra lovely, lustrous shimmer.
The white lid symbolizes the stork's white wings, which flap whenever you open it.
