Balloon Earrings #08 Cherry Blossom, Pink
Made using Honminoshi paper! Honminoshi paper is made using techniques which are designated as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. It is the finest hand-made washi paper made only with kozo (hybrid mulberry used to make paper) using special paper-making tools while preserving traditional manufacturing methods. [Paper made by Minako Ieda & Makoto Kurata]
This paper is folded one by one by hand and hardened with UV resin, giving the paper both durability and transparency. It has both the smart folded lines that can only be created using thin, strong hand-made washi and the characteristic soft texture & fine transparency of washi. The Japanese pattern is individually hand-printed using a screen-printing method. As this is made with Honminoshi paper hand-made that uses only Japanese-made kozo, it has a transparent, lustrous appearance like a mizu uchiwa fan.
