The dish has a shape that cannot be mass produced by machine. Each item is carved individually by hand by a craftsman using a small router. When making these, the feel of each item is checked by hand, so this tableware has a gentle feel suitable for the sensitive skin of babies.

As these are items that come into contact with baby's mouth, the coating and finish can be of concern. The dish is made using a wood impregnated reinforcing agent used in tableware. As this absorbs into wood and hardens, water and foods do not dissolve into the wood. This will give you peace of mind for your baby's meal times.

[Hand-made apple wood items]
Hirosaki, Aomori Prefecture is the number one producer of apples in Japan. Every year, for various reasons, the trees responsible for this become available. In order to use it as a wood material, it is very time consuming to process, as long, thick pieces of wood are difficult to collect and there are many knots.
Even so, the manufacturer saws and dries wood harvested from farms. Without going against the trends of the times, they use their own equipment and techniques to create these items. Around 50% of the wood obtained is used, but it is used as a regional resource that is seen as a "zero emission activity".
